Officials in Chicago have removed the infamous sidewalk ‘rat hole’

A Chicago sidewalk landmark, dubbed the “rat hole” by residents, was removed by city officials due to damage. The sidewalk, with an outline resembling a rat, was located in Roscoe Village. Comedian’s photo on X platform brought it fame in January, leading to complaints from neighbors about visitors leaving items. The city’s transportation department spokesperson, Erica Schroeder, mentioned the rat hole section and other damaged sidewalk portions were removed and are in temporary storage. The decision on where the slab will end up will be a collaborative effort. Complaints had been received by Alderman Scott Waguespack for months, causing noise and safety issues. New concrete was poured on Wednesday.
