Olivia Rodrigo Surprises as Plus-One at Venice Festival for Boyfriend’s Debut

The Venice Film Festival was graced with an unexpected appearance from one of the world’s leading pop stars on Thursday night.

Olivia Rodrigo — currently on a break from her Guts World Tour, which resumes in Bangkok, Thailand on Sept. 15 — flew to Italy for a low-profile appearance supporting her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, and his role in the Apple TV+ limited series Disclaimer.

This marked the couple’s public debut at an official event, although they opted not to pose together on the red carpet at Palazzo del Cinema. They were seen attending a cocktail reception at the Hotel Excelsior before the world premiere, and later at a post-screening reception at Palazzina Grassi. Paparazzi captured images of them moving to and fro. Vogue described Rodrigo’s ensemble for the occasion as “a vision of the ’90s.”

Rodrigo was also seen capturing moments on her own camera, filming Partridge during the official introduction of the show at Sala Grande, which received a standing ovation. The first four episodes of Disclaimer premiered during the event, with additional episodes shown at a separate screening. The Apple Studios series, based on Renée Knight’s best-selling novel, is told in seven chapters. Its ensemble cast features Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lesley Manville, Leila George, South Korean star Hoyeon, and Partridge.

In Disclaimer, Blanchett plays acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, who has built her reputation on revealing others’ misdeeds. She is shocked when she receives a novel from an unknown author, only to find out she is now the protagonist in a story that discloses her darkest secrets.

Louis Partridge, known for his roles in Argylle, The Lost Girls, Paddington 2, and the Enola Holmes franchise opposite Millie Bobby Brown, takes on a key part in the series. He recently wrapped a role in an upcoming, untitled Noah Baumbach film, featuring a star-studded cast including Adam Sandler, George Clooney, Riley Keough, Emily Mortimer, Billy Crudup, Eve Hewson, Laura Dern, Isla Fisher, Patrick Wilson, and Greta Gerwig. Disclaimer is set to release worldwide on Apple TV+ on Oct. 11, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes dropping every Friday.
