Oregon Powerball winner of $1.3 billion jackpot shares gratitude: “I am truly blessed”

The $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot in Oregon was won by 46-year-old immigrant Cheng Saephan from Laos who had been fighting cancer for eight years. He purchased over 20 tickets and prayed for luck, ultimately winning. The lump sum of $422 million was claimed with his wife and friend after taxes. Saephan plans to buy a home in Oregon for his family and continue playing the lottery. Winners cannot remain anonymous in Oregon, and have a year to claim the prize. This jackpot is the fourth-largest in Powerball history and the eighth largest in U.S. jackpot games.
