Victoria Bencomo was shot at an Albuquerque high school graduation ceremony by her stepson, 21-year-old Cristian Bencomo. The incident occurred while students were giving roses to loved ones. Victoria underwent multiple surgeries and is still recovering in the hospital. Witnesses saw Cristian kicking Victoria after shooting her, but several men restrained him until police arrived. The police believe the shooting was a domestic situation between the two. Victoria now needs a feeding tube and a GoFundMe has been set up to support her recovery. The case will be taken up by the new gun crimes unit.
