Penn urges protesters to comply with legal and policy regulations and encourages the disbanding of encampment

Interim President Larry Jameson stated that the pro-Palestinian encampment on College Green violates University policies due to harassing and intimidating conduct. Vandalism, including antisemitic graffiti on a statue, was cited as an example of these violations. Jameson emphasized Penn’s commitment to free speech while also prioritizing the safety of the community. A Jewish Student Advisory Group met with Penn administrators to address concerns about the encampment’s impact on Jewish student life. Jameson warned that the University would take action if protest behavior turned threatening or violent. Penn’s response to the encampment will prioritize upholding policies and maintaining a safe campus environment.
