Peter Dinklage Hopes ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Film Will Soon Shine

Peter Dinklage is eager for a wider audience to see the updated version of “The Toxic Avenger,” sharing his hopes for a broad release soon.

In a recent interview, the “Game of Thrones” alum discussed the film’s success at Fantastic Fest in Austin, expressing optimism about its future. When asked about the release details, Dinklage clarified, “No, I’m not a producer on it. I don’t know,” but emphasized his wish for a broad audience, given its warm reception at the festival. He praised writer/director Macon Blair, stating, “He’s incredible. He’s one of my favorite people and favorite artists. So hopefully it will have its day in the toxic sun.”

“The Toxic Avenger” premiered at Fantastic Fest 2023, headlining the event with a humorous and action-packed twist on the classic Troma film. The Legendary Pictures production features Peter Dinklage alongside Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon.

The film’s story revolves around Toxie, who is born when Melvin, a mild-mannered janitor from Tromaville, NJ, accidentally falls into radioactive toxic waste. Emerging as a grotesque yet oddly charming mutant hero, Toxie takes on bullies and corruption with lethal enthusiasm.

The original film, released in 1984, starred Mitch Cohen as Toxie and gave rise to three sequels, a stage musical, a children’s cartoon series, and a Marvel comic.
