‘Pray for America’: ‘Jersey Shore’ Stars React to Trump Assassination Attempt

“Pray for America.”

This plea came from “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino on social media shortly after former President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted off stage on the evening of Saturday, July 13. Trump, with blood dripping down his face, was removed from a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, following the sound of gunshots.

Alongside his post, Sorrentino, a resident of Holmdel, added an American flag emoji. His followers quickly began to comment. One wrote, “Regardless of political affiliation, this was a cowardly act.” Another commented, “Praying for President Trump!!!”

On June 1, at UFC 302 in Newark, Sorrentino took a picture with Trump and UFC chief Dana White at the Prudential Center. Trump also posed in Newark with Vinny Guadagnino, another cast member of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” who later shared an Associated Press photo of Trump with his fist raised while being led off the stage during Saturday’s incident. However, Guadagnino from Staten Island did not add any comments to his post.

The reactions to his post were mixed. One follower questioned, “Vinny is a trumper? Bye,” while another speculated, “Well that’s one way to plummet the JSFV ratings.”

Historically, the “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” show, as well as its predecessor “Jersey Shore,” have largely steered clear of politics. However, in 2019, some cast members including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Deena Cortese, and Angelina Pivarnick traveled from Teterboro Airport to Washington, D.C., to see President Trump. This trip was on behalf of Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who at the time was serving a sentence for tax fraud. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure a meeting with Trump.

The alarming incident at Trump’s rally has left one spectator dead and two others in serious condition, according to USA Today. Authorities are investigating the shooting as an assassination attempt, and the suspected shooter has been reported dead.
