Prince William and Prince George had a warm father-son outing at the Euro Final match in Berlin, Germany, on Sunday. Meanwhile, Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte enjoyed a tennis match at Wimbledon in London.
The father-son duo, who have recently been seen together at events such as the Emirates FA Cup and Taylor Swift’s London Eras Tour concert, watched Spain and England face off in the game. Prince William, 42, was seen engaging with his eldest son, 11, as well as chatting with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and King Felipe VI of Spain.
During the match, William was spotted bending down to George’s level as they shared a moment discussing the game. Despite England’s 2-1 loss to Spain, William and George maintained their composure and graciously accepted the outcome.
Meanwhile, in London, nine-year-old Charlotte and Kate, 42, attended Wimbledon together. This marked Kate’s second public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March.
Kate, who is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, watched the Wimbledon Men’s Single Finals with her daughter. Carlos Alcaraz of Spain faced off against Novak Djokovic of Serbia. They were also joined by Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton.
Kate took to her social media accounts to celebrate her return to public outings. She posted a photo of herself waving from the stands, captioned, “Great to be back at @Wimbledon! There’s nothing quite like The Championships 🎾.”
Kate’s last appearance at Wimbledon was in 2023 when she attended with William and their two oldest children. The couple also shares young son, Prince Louis, who is six.
The recent activities of William and Kate come just weeks after William’s father, King Charles III, who also underwent cancer treatment earlier this year. King Charles humorously referred to his grandchildren during a speech while William was in attendance.
At a welcome dinner for Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, cameras caught William smirking as King Charles joked about his numerous grandchildren. Reflecting on past fishing experiences, Charles said, “I am only sorry to report that I haven’t had any better luck with more recent attempts at fishing. The Pokémon phrase ‘gotta catch ’em all’ may resonate with my grandchildren, but for me, it is, perhaps, aspirational.”
Charles is also a grandfather to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
In May, royal expert Katie Nicholl explained Charles’ desire to reconnect with Harry and rebuild his relationship with his grandchildren, who currently live in California.
“He very much wants to be close to his son again and to see more of his grandchildren, who he’s barely seen since they were born,” Nicholl said.
“Harry has said that he had hoped that, out of the adversity of his father’s illness, he would reunify with the family. It’s clearly very much his intention,” Nicholl added. “My understanding is the king also wants to sort of rekindle his relationship with his son. He loves his son. He’s a very forgiving man. I think he certainly wants to move on.”
