Prince William: Kate Middleton Has ‘a Long Way to Go’ After Cancer Update

Just one day after Princess Kate Middleton shared that she has completed her preventative chemotherapy treatments, her husband, Prince William, acknowledged that her battle with cancer is not over yet.

During a visit to Llanelli, South Wales, on Tuesday, September 10, William briefly touched upon the update on Kate’s health. He had several engagements throughout the town that day.

“It’s good news, but there is still a long way to go,” he remarked to a crowd during a walkabout, as reported by Hello!

While interacting with onlookers outside the Swiss Valley Community Primary School, the Prince expressed gratitude for the concern shown for Kate, who is also 42 years old. He provided an encouraging update on her health as well.

“She is better, and thank you,” he told one attendee, according to People.

William’s comments resonated with the emotional video update previously released by Kate regarding her cancer journey, which she initially publicized in March.

In a heartfelt announcement on Monday, September 9, Kate expressed relief over completing her chemotherapy treatment as summer draws to a close. “I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she stated.

She described the past few months as “tough” for herself, William, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“Life as you know it can change in an instant. We have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,” she reflected. “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”

Kate added that such experiences force individuals to confront their own vulnerabilities, leading to a fresh perspective on life. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted—of simply loving and being loved,” she said.

Looking ahead, she emphasized that her primary focus will be on staying cancer-free. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she explained. She expressed eagerness to return to her royal duties and partake in more public engagements in the upcoming months.

“Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” Kate noted.

She concluded her announcement by expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received. “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time,” she shared. “Everyone’s kindness, empathy, and compassion has been truly humbling.”

Kate also reached out to others undergoing similar struggles, stating, “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey—I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”

Currently, Kate is continuing her work from home while collaborating with her team on the annual Christmas Carol concert at Westminster Abbey. Additionally, she is preparing to appear alongside the royal family at the annual Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph war memorial in Whitehall, which is set for November.
