Private Meeting Between Trump and DeSantis in Florida

Former president Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met privately in Miami to potentially mend their strained relationship. DeSantis agreed to help Trump raise money for the general election. DeSantis, popular among some Republican voters fatigued by Trump, also has an incentive to form a closer relationship with the former president to bolster his own political future. The meeting was brokered by a mutual contact and was the first interaction between the two since the 2018 gubernatorial election. Trump endorsed DeSantis then, but their relationship soured during DeSantis’ ill-fated presidential bid in 2020.
