Protests against Israel persist at college and university campuses in the US

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) criticized New York universities for arresting anti-Israel protesters but supported a probe into alleged Islamophobic discrimination at Emory University. CAIR denounced officials at NYU, The New School, University of Buffalo, and Stony Brook University. They called for charges to be dropped against arrested students and urged dialogue over punitive measures. CAIR has defended anti-Israel protesters on campuses, with some involvement in illegal activity and antisemitic rhetoric. The group also praised the Department of Education for investigating anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian activity at Emory University. Secretary of Education Cardona expressed concern over rising antisemitism on college campuses.
