Rat-infested area in Chicago successfully eliminated

A Chicago sidewalk landmark known as the “rat hole” was removed after city officials decided it needed to be replaced due to damage. The imprint, which resembled a rat, had become popular on social media but caused issues for neighbors with disturbances and littering. The section of sidewalk is now in storage, and its future location will be decided collaboratively. Crews used tools to remove the section and pour new concrete. Complaints had been received by Alderman Scott Waguespack’s office about the uneven sidewalk and disturbances caused by people visiting the rat hole.
