Renowned Actor Joins ‘Slow Horses’ for Season 4

Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses” continues to build momentum as it returns with more twists and turns in the world of British Intelligence. The series is set to premiere its fourth season with the first two episodes available on Wednesday, Sept. 4, on Apple TV+.

The anticipation for Season 4 was heightened with the release of the trailer shortly after the conclusion of the previous season. The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of new threats, including a serial bomber in London and a death that impacts the Slough House team. It also introduces a new character, Frank Harkness, played by Hugo Weaving.

Weaving, known for iconic roles such as V in “V for Vendetta” and Agent Smith in the Matrix trilogy, brings his talent to the series. Described by ScreenRant as “one of the most exciting developments in the Apple TV+ show,” Weaving’s character is set to become a formidable villain. ScreenRant’s Sarah Little suggests Harkness could be “the best villain the show has ever featured.”

Gary Oldman, who portrays Jackson Lamb, is thrilled to return. He expressed his love for long-form storytelling during a TV news event, describing television as a platform for some of the best content. This sentiment is echoed in his enthusiasm for revisiting his character in “Slow Horses.”

During a press junket, Oldman shared his desire to continue playing Lamb as long as the show remains on air. He indicated his willingness to cover all eight books in Mick Herron’s Slough House series, noting that Herron has written another book since the show’s inception, potentially extending the series further.

In contrast, Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright, highlighted the unique humor of the show as a major draw. Despite not having read the source material, he was captivated by the scripts’ “bizarre and wonderful” humor. He compared the show to a workplace thriller where “everybody’s a little bit bad at what they do,” adding to its charm.

Based on Mick Herron’s Slough House book series, “Slow Horses” also features an ensemble cast including Saskia Reeves, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christopher Chung, Rosalind Eleazar, Sophie Okonedo, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, Ruth Bradley, Joanna Scanlan, Tom Brooke, and James Callis.
