Republican Representatives criticize Marjorie Taylor Greene’s mutiny, but Mike Johnson still faces criticism.

When Congress left for a week-long recess on April 20, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) urged her colleagues to listen to their constituents, especially after Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) successfully pushed a $95 billion foreign aid package that included support for Ukraine. Greene had been struggling to oust Johnson but hoped constituents’ anger over Ukraine aid would sway their support. However, while some constituents are puzzled by Johnson’s decisions, many GOP members remain hesitant to oust him so close to elections. Despite growing animosity towards Johnson, the timing and consequences of removing him are major concerns among Republicans.
