Rush Propst retains position as Pell City football coach following contentious school board meeting

A special meeting of the Pell City School Board was held to discuss firing football coach Rush Propst and his wife, but no one made a motion to vote, so the item failed. Propst, not in attendance, expressed gratitude for the decision to keep him as head coach. A large crowd of supporters, including players and community members, rallied behind Propst at the meeting. Board members Norman Wilder and Greg Crump spoke in support of Propst and against the superintendent, suggesting his resignation instead. Propst, a successful coach with Hoover and other schools, expressed appreciation for the community’s support and looks forward to building a strong football program at Pell City.
