Ryan Reynolds is shedding light on why Rob McElhenney does not appear in the new ‘Deadpool’ movie. Reynolds explained that despite McElhenney filming a scene, they couldn’t find a way to make it fit into the final cut, but emphasized that this was not a reflection on McElhenney’s performance.

The renowned actor shared this information on Threads, where he mentioned that his friend and co-owner of Wrexham A.F.C. did indeed shoot a scene for the movie. However, the sequence ultimately couldn’t be integrated into the film. Reynolds pointed out that the scene didn’t work narratively, and the only reason it wasn’t immediately discarded was due to McElhenney’s impressive performance.

Reynolds highlighted the intensity McElhenney brought to his role and expressed his gratitude for McElhenney flying all the way to London for the shoot. Sadly, it just didn’t pan out as intended.

Reynolds also spilled the fate of McElhenney’s character, noting that the character meets an unglamorous end by being devoured and later excreted by a giant creature.

Fans might have already been aware of McElhenney’s removal from the movie since McElhenney himself humorously revealed it the day the film was released. He posted a picture with Hugh Jackman on set, joking that his theater must have accidentally cut his part out, noting he had traveled 6,000 miles to participate, and jesting that Reynolds wouldn’t have excluded him without reason.

The ‘Deadpool’ franchise continues to perform well at the box office, with the latest film reclaiming the top spot in its fifth weekend. Additionally, Wrexham A.F.C., the football club Reynolds and McElhenney co-own, has won two of its first three league matches. This suggests that despite the unfortunate editing mishap, the duo has plenty to be pleased about.
