Sabrina Carpenter Releases ‘Sweet(er)’ Album Versions with New Songs: ‘Surprise!’

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short ‘n Sweet” is getting some post-release love! On Thursday, the pop star known for “Taste” surprised fans with a new version of her album, titled “Sweet(er).” This edition includes an additional song called “Busy Woman.”

“Surprise bitch! I wrote ‘Busy Woman’ with Jack [Antonoff] and Amy [Allen] just after I turned in the album and was so sad I couldn’t include it,” Carpenter shared in a note to her fans. “It’s one of my favorites so I wanted to give it to you as a thank you for all of the love!!!!! Hope you enjoy it!”

To hear this new track, fans will need to buy the digital version of “Short n’ Sweet(er)” from Carpenter’s online store. This revised album includes the original track list along with the new song “Busy Woman.” Additionally, it features an alternate cover showing Carpenter during her album cover shoot, caught in a candid moment biting her nail with a smile.

The release of “Sweet(er)” follows a digital version of the album that included another bonus track, “Needless to Say.” Initially, this song was only available in a limited-edition vinyl version. “Cmon, you know you can’t resist…..plus there’s an extra sweet something!” reads the description of the bonus track.

The original album, which dropped last week, includes 12 tracks such as “Taste,” “Good Graces,” and “Coincidence.” These songs brought Carpenter together with notable songwriters Amy Allen and Julia Michaels. A Rolling Stone review praised the album, highlighting its filthy, funny, and often mean lyrics, giving it a four-star rating.

To celebrate the album’s release, Carpenter debuted a bloody, campy video for her single “Taste,” featuring Jenna Ortega.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 last week, Carpenter explained the themes in her album. “I feel a thread running through this album of not just self-discovery, but also getting through the heartache and heartbreak that can often… Man, it can really break you for a long time,” she said. “And I get the feeling, even with the humor and with a healthy dose of judgment in some of these songs, that you were hurting real bad.”
