Seattle hospital refuses to provide gender-affirming care records in lawsuit settlement with Texas

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has dropped a request for Seattle Children’s Hospital to provide records regarding gender-affirming treatment for children from Texas. Seattle Children’s Hospital had filed a lawsuit against Paxton’s office in response to his investigation into transgender health care. The lawsuit was dismissed after the parties settled. Texas has laws restricting gender-affirming care for transgender minors. As part of the settlement, Seattle Children’s Hospital agreed to withdraw from operating in Texas. Paxton stated that Texas will protect children from what he believes is harmful gender-affirming treatment. Washington, in contrast, has laws protecting minors seeking such care.
