The popular romance K-drama Serendipity’s Embrace has recently concluded. The series aired its final episode, episode 8, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, on tvN and Viki. The story sees Lee Hong-Ju (Kim So-Hyun) and Kang Hu-Young (Chae Jong-Hyeop) reconciling after a significant argument, and confessing their deep romantic feelings for each other.

In the final episode, Kang Hu-Young’s mother, Baek Do-Seon (Kim Jung-Nan), offers Lee Hong-Ju the chance to live with them in the U.S. This situation leaves Hong-Ju in a dilemma as she has established her life and career in South Korea. Meanwhile, Kang Hu-Young faces a pressing issue of returning to the U.S. as his mother has filed a lawsuit against him for violating company policies. This legal action is her way of ensuring he returns. The question lingers: will they end up separated?

The finale opens with Lee Hong-Ju, realizing the pain she has caused Kang Hu-Young, rushing to meet him. Simultaneously, Kang Hu-Young hurries to see Lee Hong-Ju. They meet halfway, reconcile, apologize, and express their deep feelings. After returning home, they spend some quality time together.

The next day, Baek Do-Seon meets Lee Hong-Ju again, presenting her with an offer and a card filled with money to leave South Korea and stay with them in the U.S. This upsets Hong-Ju as she is not willing to leave her life, friends, and career behind, despite her love for Kang Hu-Young, which creates confusion about her decisions.

Kang Hu-Young then learns about his mother’s lawsuit, effectively forcing him to return to the U.S. Distressed by what his mother has suggested to Lee Hong-Ju, he rushes to find her but fails initially. Eventually, they meet at their high school, the place where their story began.

Kang Hu-Young asks Hong-Ju to join him abroad, but Hong-Ju declines, stating she cannot leave her life in South Korea. Relieved, Hu-Young appreciates her decision and promises to return to South Korea after resolving matters in the U.S. They embrace and decide to spend as much time as they can before his departure.

Towards the end, Lee Hong-Ju is seen working diligently towards her dream in the animation film industry, fully immersed in a significant project. As Christmas approaches, Kang Hu-Young prepares to leave for the U.S. before Christmas Eve. He gathers with Kim Hye-Ji (Kim Da-Som), her new boyfriend Son Kyung-Taek (Hwang Sung-Bin), Kwon Sang-Pil (Lee Won-Jung), and others at his uncle’s place for a farewell gathering. Unfortunately, Lee Hong-Ju can’t join them due to her work schedule, which makes Hu-Young upset as he has to leave the next morning. She even misses seeing him off at the airport.

In a twist, at the airport, Lee Hong-Ju appears with a suitcase in hand. She had saved her vacation days to surprise Hu-Young and spend time with him in the U.S. Delighted, Kang Hu-Young shares a passionate kiss with her before they board the flight. Despite potential visa issues for Hong-Ju, the series ends on a highly satisfying note, indicating a happy ending by revisiting glimpses of their high school days, emphasizing their destiny to be together.
