Sergeant Ian Taylor, a 21-year law enforcement veteran, tragically died in a construction accident in Billerica. He was struck by an excavator while helping move a tractor-trailer. Taylor was known for his dedication to helping the community, particularly in substance abuse prevention. Billerica Police Chief Roy Frost praised Taylor for his impactful and meaningful life, saving and helping many people. The crash closed Boston Road for hours, and investigators are still determining the cause. Flowers now adorn the Billerica Public Safety Memorial in honor of Sergeant Taylor and other fallen first responders.
