Several VCU Graduates Choose to Walk Out During Youngkin’s Commencement Address

Dozens of Virginia Commonwealth University students protested Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s commencement address by walking out of their graduation ceremony. They were demonstrating support for Palestinians and opposing Youngkin’s stance against racial equity in education. The selection of Youngkin as speaker had drawn criticism before the ceremony, with the university’s NAACP chapter calling for the invitation to be rescinded. Despite this, some students had already planned to walk out during the ceremony as a form of protest against Youngkin’s policies.
