Shannen Doherty Files for Divorce One Day Before Her Passing

Shannen Doherty began dating celebrity photographer Kurt Iswarienko in 2008, and the couple tied the knot in 2011. Doherty received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 and went into remission in 2017. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and spread in 2020. Three years later, Doherty filed for divorce. In December 2023, Doherty shared details about what led to the split on her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear.” She recounted undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor, describing it as “the most frightening thing I have ever been through in my entire life.” She expressed, “I didn’t think I was going to make it. I was positive that I was gonna die.”

This traumatic experience was compounded by a devastating revelation just before her operation. “I went into that surgery early in the morning, and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years,” she revealed. Doherty remembered not allowing Iswarienko to be with her as she went into surgery. She felt “so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart.” While navigating the divorce added to an already challenging period, finalizing it was a small but significant victory for Doherty.
