Since You All Leaked It Already

A$AP Rocky has chosen to delay his much-anticipated Don’t Be Dumb album. Despite this postponement, the Harlem native is gearing up to release another single before the album drops. On Thursday (Aug. 29), the Mob frontman announced that his previously leaked track “Tailor Swif” — a title cleverly playing on pop star Taylor Swift’s name — will officially be out on Friday (Aug. 30). Although the single borrows Swift’s name, it carries no direct connection to the pop icon.

“SINCE U DUMMIES LEAKED IT ALREADY,” Flacco tweeted candidly, also noting on TikTok that the song would be available “2MRW.” The announcement was accompanied by a 10-second teaser of the music video, which was filmed in Ukraine.

Fans who had previously encountered the leaked track — initially titled “Wetty” — are excited about its official release. “This a hall of fame music video,” one Twitter user commented in enthusiasm.

However, not everyone is happy. Some Taylor Swift fans expressed their displeasure over Rocky’s playful use of the singer’s name. “Why does every male want beef with Taylor Swift? It’s weird,” one Swiftie tweeted.

The history of “Tailor Swif” dates back to July 2022 when Rocky performed the track at Rolling Loud Portugal. Just days after his performance, the song and its visual leaked online.

Rocky initially had reservations about including “Tailor Swif” on his upcoming album following the leak. He later explained his change of heart during an early August interview with Apple Music, stating the song’s importance and special connection. “It’s very important and special if it makes it on the album,” he said. “Most of the songs that I usually perform and s–t like that, muthaf–kas leak it. And once it’s leaked, it’s just like, ‘Nah, it’s not on the project’… I might perform it here or there, but it’s leaked. It is what it is. It’s out already.”

Initially scheduled for release on Friday (Aug. 30), A$AP Rocky’s album Don’t Be Dumb has been delayed until the fall, with no specific release date provided. In a cover story interview with Billboard, Rocky delved into the album’s themes and his continued exploration of German expressionism. “In this very moment, it’s very grim. That’s an abbreviation,” he said, referring to the project’s blend of German expressionism and ghetto futurism.

Earlier in August, Rocky released the single “Highjack” featuring Jessica Pratt, which managed to reach No. 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
