Slipknot’s Sid Wilson Reveals Gory Injuries from Bonfire ‘Explosion’

Slipknot’s DJ, Sid Wilson, has returned home after receiving treatment for serious burns following an explosion at his residence. The 47-year-old musician first alerted fans to his condition through an Instagram video from his hospital bed, where he displayed his singed eyebrows, moustache, and blistered mouth and arms.

“Hi everybody, I had an explosion in my face. I’m OK, I’m going to be OK. But I did have some serious burns to my face and arms,” Wilson said on Friday evening, August 23.

Wilson mentioned he was undergoing a chest X-ray to ensure he hadn’t inhaled flames during the incident.

Following this, he was moved to a specialist facility. There, he assured fans he was in “good hands” and feeling “pretty good.”

The next evening, August 24, Wilson shared a close-up selfie showing serious blisters and burns on his face, including his lip, cheeks, and chin, adding, “On my way home.”

Fans expressed their sympathy and shared well-wishes. Some referenced Slipknot’s track, “The Blister Exists,” while others made lighthearted comments like, “Sid the Third (degree burn),” and “Bro ouch! Sending you healing vibes for your recovery, bro.”

System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian also commented, “Damn brother, that looks painful. Hope you heal quickly. We’re out here sending you positive thoughts.”

Wilson explained the injuries occurred due to remnants of a bonfire he’d been burning on his Iowa farm the previous night.

Despite his injuries, Wilson’s bandmates announced he still plans to join Slipknot for their performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Oklahoma next weekend. “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body,” they said. “He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes, and will see you all soon.”

Wilson’s girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, daughter of TV star Sharon and Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, also shared a warning about the dangers of burn piles. “This is why you don’t f*** with burn piles. He literally set himself on fire, exploded everything,” she said, appearing visibly stressed.

She also posted a video of their young son playing with toys on the hospital floor beside Wilson, whose arms were wrapped in bandages.

Wilson and Osbourne first met in 1999 while Slipknot was touring with her father’s festival, Ozzfest. They became friends and later confirmed their romantic relationship in February 2022. In an Instagram post, Osbourne wrote, “After 23 years of friendship, I can’t believe where we have ended up! You are my best friend, my soulmate, and I am so deeply in love with you, Sidney George Wilson.”

The couple announced the birth of their son, Sidney Wilson Jr., in November of the same year.
