Speakers boycott USC graduation ceremonies

USC President Carol Folt cancelled the main commencement ceremony amid pro-Palestinian protests, causing outrage and leading to two high-profile speakers dropping out. Novelist C Pam Zhang and UCLA professor Safiya U. Noble criticized the university for calling the police to arrest protesters and not engaging in dialogue with students. They withdrew as speakers and called for others to join them in boycotting the graduation events. The controversy began when USC uninvited pro-Palestinian student Asna Tabassum from speaking at the main stage. The university faced backlash and cancelled other events due to security concerns, with some speakers still scheduled for satellite ceremonies.
