A federal appeals court upheld the criminal conviction of Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress related to the Capitol riot probe. Bannon, sentenced to four months in prison, remains free on bond while challenging the decision. The court rejected Bannon’s defense that he was following legal advice in refusing to testify before Congress. Bannon’s lawyer plans to appeal to the full 11-member DC appeals court. Another former Trump aide, Peter Navarro, served prison time for contempt of Congress. Bannon was once a key player in Trump’s election campaign but left the White House after a far-right rally in 2017.
