Students at Gunnison High School must use a boat as their mode of transportation to school

New cracks found on the bridge connecting parts of Colorado, causing closure of U.S. 50. Gunnison High School students are now taking boats to school. Some students unable to cross water are doing remote learning. CDOT engineers found additional cracks in the closed bridge and are unsure how long it will stay closed. The school district is assisting students with transportation and housing during this time. The principal acknowledges the generosity of the community in helping students. The situation has disrupted normal routines, but the community is coming together to support each other.
