Students at the University of Utah participate in pro-Palestine demonstrations and establish campsite on campus

University of Utah students participated in pro-Palestinian rallies, demanding the divestment of the university’s endowment from Israeli companies benefitting from the Israel-Hamas war. Students camped on campus until a resolution was reached. Campus police monitored the protest for violations of camping ordinances. Utah Governor emphasized the protection of the law during rallies. The student group Mecha organized the rally and faced misdemeanor charges earlier in the year. Students called for divestment from Lockheed Martin and 47G. The rally included speeches, chanting, Palestinian flags, and calls for solidarity with Palestine. The unprecedented rally demonstrated student activism at the university.
