Suspect in kidnapping leads to dual standoffs and freeway closures in South LA

The southbound 710 Freeway and CA-91 were temporarily closed Friday night after a brief pursuit of a possible kidnapping suspect in South Los Angeles. The Long Beach Police Department initiated the chase and the suspect was believed to be alone in the vehicle. The suspect eventually stopped and officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the getaway. After a standoff, officers pulled the suspect out of the van and arrested him. The freeway was closed for nearly two hours before the situation was resolved.
