Suspect in woman’s death on LA subway tied to prior violent incidents

A 45-year-old man, Elliot Tramel Nowden, suspected of fatally stabbing a woman as she exited a Metro train in North Hollywood, had a history of attacking a passenger on a Metro train in 2019. Nowden was ordered to stay away from the rail system for three years but violated his probation multiple times. He was arrested again for trespassing in January 2023 and ultimately arrested on suspicion of murder for the recent stabbing. The LAPD is investigating the attack and urges anyone with information about other attacks by Nowden to come forward. Nowden is currently being held in a Van Nuys jail.
