SVU Release Date and Season Information Announced

Law & Order: SVU is gearing up to start its 26th season, marking another milestone for one of the longest-running police procedural shows on TV. The new season promises to deliver the same gripping drama that has kept fans hooked for years. NBC has shared some key details about what to expect this upcoming season, including the much-anticipated release date.

NBC has renewed Law & Order: SVU for its 26th season. While the network has decided to move Law & Order: Organized Crime to Peacock, fans can rest assured that SVU will continue to air on Thursday nights, paired with the original Law & Order series.

According to the show’s social media team, “Alert your squad and mark your calendars: NEW seasons of #LawAndOrder & #SVU return Thursday, October 3rd to @NBC.” This announcement, posted on Instagram, confirms that SVU will return a bit later than usual but definitely on October 3.

This fall, SVU will air at 9/8c on NBC every Thursday. The original Law & Order is set for its 24th season, airing at 8/7c on Thursdays. Although Law & Order took a hiatus from 2010 to 2022, it’s back and continues to captivate viewers. With Organized Crime moving to Peacock, its timeslot will now belong to Found, which is set to air its second season at 10/9c following SVU.

Rumors are swirling that SVU might still have a crossover episode with Organized Crime, despite the latter’s move to Peacock. Fans eagerly await what new storylines and character arcs will unfold with these potential crossovers.

NBC’s full fall 2024 season schedule retains much of the familiar lineup. Wednesday nights remain dedicated to One Chicago, featuring Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. Mondays and Tuesdays will continue to feature The Voice. On Mondays, Brilliant Minds will join the lineup, and on Tuesdays, The Irrational will take the stage for its second season.

The only new series NBC is introducing this season is Brilliant Minds. This show stars Zachary Quinto, known for his role in Heroes, as Dr. Oliver Wolf. Dr. Wolf is a groundbreaking neurologist leading a team of interns as they explore the complexities of the human mind. This medical drama will tackle various mental health issues, drawing inspiration from the real-life Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks. Fans of the late Robin Williams’ film Awakenings may find similar themes, given that the movie is also based on Sacks’ life.

The comedy block is set for Friday nights, featuring Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place followed by George Lopez’s Lopez vs. Lopez. However, two popular returning shows, St. Denis Medical and Night Court, won’t return until after the presidential election. They are scheduled to be back on November 12 and November 19, respectively.

Fans are buzzing with excitement over the return of Law & Order: SVU and the familiar faces that will grace their screens once more. With new seasons, crossovers, and intriguing new shows on the horizon, NBC’s fall schedule seems packed with promising entertainment.
