Taye Diggs and Meagan Good Cast in New Lifetime Movie

Taye Diggs and Meagan Good are set to share the small screen in Lifetime’s newly acquired movie Terry McMillan Presents: Forever. The film will premiere at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 24. Charles Murray serves as the director and executive producer. Not only is Good the star, but she also takes on the role of executive producer for this film.

Forever is the second film under the previously announced umbrella of McMillian films, which also includes Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted By Love. This film, starring and executive produced by Garcelle Beauvais, will premiere a week before Forever on August 17.

According to an official logline, Forever follows Johnnie (played by Diggs), who returns home after a tour of military service only to be unexpectedly met with divorce papers. With his life at a crossroads, the last thing he anticipated was to fall for Carlie (played by Good), a local policewoman who pulled him over for speeding. Determined to win her heart, Johnnie’s first hurdle is to win over her three daughters. To be the man Carlie needs him to be, he must let go of old fears and regrets, find love, and understand the true meaning of family.

Recently, Meagan Good has also been in the news regarding the release of Prime Video’s Tyler Perry’s Divorce In the Black. The film has been met with negative reviews from critics, receiving a dismal 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, bringing Perry’s role as a writer and director under question once again. While Perry’s casting choices are often lauded, his storylines have faced substantial criticism.

Divorce In the Black is considered by many to be Perry’s worst project to date. The continuous use of repetitive stereotypes in his films has particularly drawn ire from audiences. Good plays an abused wife who is saved by her former love from her hometown. A review from The Guardian describes the film as “more paint-by-numbers schlock from a guy who may well have been rushing to get this project finished in between his umpteen other film and TV projects.”
