‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Stirs Excitement With New Casting Announcements

Ted Lasso is making headlines once again. Just weeks after it was disclosed that the future of the Apple TV+ dramedy depends on Jason Sudeikis, Deadline reports a significant update. Sources reveal that Warner Bros. Television has picked up options on three cast members, potentially setting the stage for a fourth season. Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift are all in talks to return to AFC Richmond.

They are not the only ones the series’ studio plans to contact. Reportedly, after these three are confirmed, Warner Bros. expects to reach out to other Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA whose options expired, aiming to negotiate new deals. Sudeikis, who co-created Ted Lasso and serves as an executive producer, is included in these discussions, along with Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple.

Unfortunately, Phil Dunster’s option has reportedly not been picked up, likely due to scheduling conflicts. Dunster is committed to Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface, making it difficult to add another series to his busy schedule. However, things could change, and Dunster might yet be approached. At this point, it’s unclear who else might be asked to return for Season 4. They hope more cast members will be locked down soon to make further casting decisions easier.

It should be noted that Ted Lasso has not yet been officially picked up for a fourth season, but picking up cast options is a significant step forward. According to sources, everything hinges on budget approval and actors’ schedules. Preparations are already underway to potentially open up a writers’ room for Season 4, should a greenlight occur. If everything stays on track, production could start in early 2025, though nothing is confirmed for now.

A fourth season of the Apple TV+ series, centering on Jason Sudeikis’ titular character, an American college football coach hired to coach an English soccer team, has been long anticipated by fans. The Ted Lasso Season 3 finale premiered in May 2023. While it served as a possible wrap-up should there be no Season 4, it left many doors open for further stories. Most Ted Lasso fans hope for more episodes, and many are eager to see the process move forward soon. In the meantime, all three seasons are available for streaming on Apple TV+.
