The Shocking Story of Jennifer Pan: How a Young Woman Masterminded a Murder Plot against Her Own Parents, Inspiring a Netflix Documentary

In recent days the name of Jennifer Pan – a young Canadian who hired hitmen to murder her parents – has caused a stir on digital platforms. This after Netflix released a documentary about the crime that occurred in 2010, when the murderer was 24 years old. Hundreds of Internet users have dug into the original story, trying to understand what were the reasons that led the woman to plan and orchestrate the murder of her parents.

The crime occurred on November 8, 2010, in the city of Markham, located in the Canadian province of Ontario. For decades, the area had been considered safe, until that day when the tranquility of the inhabitants was interrupted by the assassination attempt against Bich Ha and Huei Hann, a couple of Vietnamese origin. The attack seemed to have been the result of an attempted robbery, but as the days passed, a terrifying secret was discovered: the victims’ daughter had been involved in the homicide.

Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that Jennifer Pan had been pretending to be an “exemplary” daughter in front of her parents, who even thought she was studying at university. However, the young woman had abandoned her studies several years ago, because she failed all the subjects at her school; In addition, Pan made up a fake job for her in the Children’s Hospital laboratory, when in reality she was hanging out with her boyfriend, a man named Daniel Wong.

Fearful of being discovered by her parents, Jennifer convinced Daniel and together they hired a group of hitmen to murder Bich Ha and Huei Hann. On the night of November 8, 2010, the couple carried out their plan; Pan let the killers into her house and allowed them to shoot her parents, then she pretended to have been the victim of an assault and called the police.
