Top-Searched Tribute Band of the Year Revealed in Study

A recent study by Slingo has revealed that the most searched tribute band over the period from July 2023 to July 2024 is a rock group. The study compiled search data to form a Top 10 list, which compared the search volumes for each tribute act alongside their original artists.

Leading the pack is Brit Floyd, a tribute band dedicated to Pink Floyd. In this period, Brit Floyd garnered 481,100 searches, nearly 200,000 more than the second-place tribute band, Cubensis, which honors the Grateful Dead and accumulated 290,900 searches.

For comparison, Pink Floyd received 13,760,000 searches from July 2023 to July 2024, while the Grateful Dead had 2,792,000 searches.

Seven tributes to rock legends made the list. These include acts paying homage to Bon Jovi, two different Queen tribute bands, Dire Straits, and Elton John.

Brit Floyd is labeled as “the world’s greatest Pink Floyd experience.” Since forming in 2011, they have regularly performed over 100 shows a year. The band hails from Liverpool, U.K., and features a 12-person lineup that includes multiple backup singers. Damian Darlington, the guitarist, singer, and musical director, leads the band. He was inspired to form Brit Floyd after performing with another tribute group, The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

According to setlist.fm, Brit Floyd frequently performs Pink Floyd classics like “Comfortably Numb,” “Run Like Hell,” and “Time.”
