Trish Stratus Explains Why She Rejected Playboy Offers

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus recently discussed why she turned down multiple offers from Playboy during her initial tenure with WWE.

In 2005, Stratus found herself feuding with Christy Hemme, who graced the cover of Playboy Magazine at the time. This cover encouraged many other female wrestlers in WWE to consider Playboy, including Stratus. Despite the trend, the seven-time WWE Women’s World Champion chose not to follow suit.

Speaking with “Inside the Ropes,” Stratus elaborated on her decision, stating that she wanted her prowess in the ring to be more significant than her sex appeal. She also shared that the idea of being presented in a hyper-sexualized manner wasn’t to her taste.

“This whole sexy thing is not really my thing, believe it or not. They asked me a number of times and I just declined a number of times. This whole sexy thing is not necessarily a natural thing to me. I’m very tomboy; like I look back at some of my interviews and they were like, ‘What’s your favorite? List your lingerie,’ and I’d be like, ‘I wear boxer shorts b*****s and I wear tank top, how about that.’ The sexy thing was hard enough for me to pull off. But to be naked? It’s just like, ‘No, I’m good, thank you,’ and at the end of the day, I am here to be a wrestler,” Stratus expressed.

Stratus further mentioned her ambition to be recognized as one of the greatest female wrestlers of all time. She believed that participating in nudity or featuring in Playboy could obstruct her path to that goal.
