Trump and New York AG Letitia James reach agreement on multi-million dollar civil fraud bond

After weeks of debate over the $175 million bond in Donald Trump’s civil fraud case, a California-based company will now back the bond with the stipulation that the collateral remains in cash. Attorneys for Trump and Letitia James’s office reached an agreement after a court hearing where Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, accused James of wasting taxpayer dollars on unnecessary complaints. The dispute centered around Knight Specialty Insurance Company providing the bond, with James’s office raising concerns about control of the collateral. Justice Engoron approved the new terms, allowing the bond to stand with the collateral remaining in cash. The terms will be finalized by Friday.
