Trump Criticizes Clooney’s Op-Ed, Calls Him ‘Fake Movie Actor’

Former President Donald Trump took George Clooney to task after the actor called on President Joe Biden to drop his reelection bid.

Biden, 81, is facing scrutiny due to concerns about his cognitive abilities following his poor debate performance against Trump last month. His recent interviews have not been well-received either.

Writing in the New York Times on Wednesday, Clooney, who hosted a fundraiser for Biden last month, expressed his concerns:

I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced.

But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe “big F-ing deal” Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.

The White House responded to Clooney’s remarks, suggesting Biden has more stamina than Clooney, noting that the 63-year-old actor left the fundraiser three hours before the president.

Trump weighed in late Wednesday night, appearing annoyed at Clooney. He wrote on Truth Social:

So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything? He uses the Democrat “talking point” that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has “saved our Democracy.” No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions. Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy, he brought our Democracy to its knees. Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!

The Clooney op-ed was just the beginning of a tumultuous day for Biden. On Morning Joe, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she hoped Biden would soon decide whether to drop out, even though he has insisted he is staying in the race. Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has reportedly indicated privately he is open to a non-Biden ticket. And Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT) became the first Democratic senator to publicly call on Biden to step aside.
