UNC’s pro-Palestinian protest continues into second day with tents still dismantled

UNC Hillel and North Carolina Hillel have been in communication with UNC administration regarding an encampment set up by students to protest University divestment from Israel. Duke and N.C. State students joined the encampment, calling it the “Triangle Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” Demonstrators including taping a Palestinian flag to the flag pole, chanting, and marching. Campus police locked buildings where demonstrators were staying, leading to accusations from UNC SJP of trying to make the encampment unlivable. Despite this, the demonstration continued with chants for disclosure and divestment, lasting over 37 hours. Natalie Bradin contributed reporting.
