Vicky Returns in The Fairly OddParents’ New Sequel

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish has reached the final slate of episodes for its debut season. The sequel series has made sure to bring back Timmy’s evil babysitter, Vicky, before it all ends. The Fairly OddParents franchise made its return to Nickelodeon with a brand new version, focusing on a new Godkid and shifting away from Timmy Turner. The new series has been connecting this era with the original animated series, featuring notable returning friends and foes from the original show.

Previous episodes of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish brought back characters from the original like Cosmo and Wanda’s son Poof (now named Peri), Timmy’s friend A.J., and Mr. Crocker. One of the latest episodes of the new series, however, has finally reintroduced its original villain, Vicky. Reprising her role as the evil babysitter, Vicky returns to the franchise to once again cause havoc for Hazel and the other kids in her big comeback.

In the episode “Operation: Birthday Takeback,” Dev Dimmadome’s father hires a mysterious babysitter for his birthday party, who turns out to be Vicky. Cosmo and Wanda identify her as the same Vicky responsible for them becoming Timmy’s fairy godparents originally. This time, Vicky’s scheme involves getting the kids to make items for her online store. However, Hazel and the others manage to turn the tables on her, with a nod to the original series’ “Icky Vicky” song playing over a key scene before it all wraps up.

Whether Timmy Turner himself will return to the series remains uncertain with all these callbacks. The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish co-executive producer Lindsay Katai had previously said in an interview that Timmy wouldn’t be appearing in the new series. “So…Timmy exists elsewhere, and people’s ideal of what his ending can be can remain their ideal,” Katai explained. “Cosmo and Wanda won’t be done after Hazel, but Hazel is their current godkid. We wanted to tip our little pink hat to Timmy here and there, so we have other visual gags referencing Timmy as well.”

Katai added that while there might be some nods to Timmy, there aren’t any immediate plans to bring him back outright. The goal was to make sure that Hazel’s story stands on its own while still acknowledging the long-time fans of the franchise.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish continues to pay homage to its predecessor, delighting both new viewers and long-time fans of the show. With Vicky’s return, many fans are excited to see what other nostalgic references will pop up in future episodes. The careful blend of fresh content and beloved characters from the past seems to be the recipe for keeping the magic of the original series alive.

As fans eagerly await the final episodes of the first season, it remains to be seen how many more familiar faces and callbacks will grace the new series. One thing is certain; the essence of The Fairly OddParents continues to shine through the new generation of characters and stories.
