Vincent Kartheiser, Laura Slade Wiggins Join Fantasy Drama ‘Go On’

Vincent Kartheiser, best known for his role in Mad Men, and Laura Slade Wiggins from Shameless have joined the cast of the upcoming fantasy drama Go On. The film marks the directorial debut of Landon Ashworth, who also wrote the screenplay. Production is set to begin in New Mexico this September.

The storyline of Go On revolves around two strangers who meet on a remote mountain ravaged by forest fires. As they face the aftermath of their previous lives, they help each other transition to the afterlife. Ashworth wrote the screenplay after experiencing the tragic loss of his young cousin, Landon Bellm, due to suicide.

“Having my feature film directorial debut be my own screenplay which addresses real, meaningful, and relatable issues is an honor,” Ashworth shared. “Working with Vincent is a dream come true. I’ve followed his career for over a decade and knew he needed to play the co-lead of this movie. His roles after Mad Men have only confirmed my belief that he’s one of the best dramatic actors of our generation and worthy of this role.”

Ashworth continued, “The added bonus of having Laura Slade sign on is humbling, to say the least. Most directors I know didn’t have such amazing talent available for their first features. After a decade of directing TV commercials and sketch comedy, I’m absolutely ready to bring this feature film to a worldwide audience.”

Kartheiser is widely celebrated for his critically acclaimed role as Pete Campbell on AMC’s Mad Men. Most recently, he appeared in the DC series Titans and has previously been part of Casual, The Path, Saints & Strangers, Das Boot, and The OA. His feature film credits include In Time, My Friend Dahmer, and Alpha Dog.

Laura Slade Wiggins, known for her recurring role on Showtime’s Shameless, has also appeared in films like Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, Rings, and 20th Century Women.

Ashworth has gathered a significant following in the Autism community, amassing over two million social media followers in just one year through his sketch comedy. Last year, he won multiple screenwriting festivals with a TV pilot that explored the women bra-makers of the ‘50s and ‘60s who won the contract to build NASA’s Apollo spacesuits.

He is also working on a NASA-endorsed musical about the space race, which is set to stage at the Newnan Theatre in Georgia in August, with aspirations of taking it to Broadway. Ashworth’s connection to space-related topics runs deep; he holds a PhD in Astrophysics and has spent three years as a test pilot for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

In addition to his creative ventures in writing and directing, Ashworth has acted in the Will Ferrell comedy Land of the Lost and series like The Resident, MacGruber, Space Force, and NCIS.

Representatives for the key cast members include Established Artists for Ashworth, Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment for Kartheiser, and J Pervis Talent Agency and Luber Roklin Entertainment for Wiggins.
