Walking Dead Universe Heads to San Diego Comic-Con with Daryl Dixon & Dead City

The highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is set to take place soon, held at the San Diego Convention Center from July 25 to 28. This year’s event marks a significant return to normalcy following disruptions caused by the pandemic and strikes in previous years. Among the many attractions, The Walking Dead universe will be represented prominently, with panels for its two spinoffs: Daryl Dixon and Dead City.

The Walking Dead has historically used SDCC as a key promotional venue, aligning with the fall premiere of new seasons. The event has been a platform to generate excitement among fans. The series first appeared at SDCC in 2010, just months ahead of its debut in October. That initial panel featured AMC executive Joel Stillerman and executive producers Greg Nicotero, Gale Anne Hurd, and showrunner Frank Darabont. Later, the cast members, including Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, and Emma Bell, joined to introduce themselves to the audience.

For SDCC 2024, fans have been delighted with the schedule announcements. Highlights include popular series such as Dr. Who, The Penguin, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and Abbott Elementary.

On Friday, July 26, the panel for The Walking Dead: Dead City will take place in Hall H from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick and will focus on promoting the upcoming second season, anticipated to premiere in 2025. Participants will include showrunner and EP Eli Jorné, TWD CCO and EP Scott M. Gimple, and cast members Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Gaius Charles (Perlie Armstrong), and Željko Ivanek (The Croat). Both Cohan and Morgan are also executive producers for the series.

Immediately following, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., will be the panel for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, also in Hall H and moderated by Hardwick. This session will promote the show’s second season, titled The Book of Carol, which is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on September 29. Attendees will include showrunner and EP David Zabel, TWD CCO and EP Scott M. Gimple, director and EP Greg Nicotero, and stars Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (Laurent). Reedus and McBride are also executive producers on the series.

Young actor Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, who plays the new character Laurent in the Daryl Dixon series, shared his enthusiasm for the event via Instagram, expressing his excitement to meet fans.

Stay tuned for all the excitement and updates from SDCC. The event promises to offer plenty of thrills for fans of The Walking Dead and many other series.
