Cheering erupted from the room as she stood up, and Mamie humorously quipped, “to standing.” She described the sensation as “weird” and admitted feeling “wobbly.” The medical staff then asked her to separate her feet, which she accomplished despite comparing the air casts to “ski boots.”

She was then instructed to place her weight primarily on the right foot and less on the left. At one point, it was mentioned that Mamie’s father was watching via FaceTime. “Hi dad … look I’m standing with the walker. All by myself,” Mamie proudly declared.
