Actor Bradley Whitford, best known for his role in The West Wing, sharply criticized Cheryl Hines and her husband, RFK Jr., on social media platform X on Saturday.

The 64-year-old actor took aim at Hines for her silence following her husband’s failed presidential bid and subsequent endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

“Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights,” Whitford posted. “Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage,” he added, referencing the famous book by President John F. Kennedy.

Whitford’s tweet included a video of Trump discussing how his Supreme Court appointments were instrumental in overturning Roe v. Wade.

Whitford, who played White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman throughout the seven seasons of The West Wing, is known for his strong political opinions. Hines, 58, is predominantly recognized for her role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, alongside Seinfeld creator Larry David.

Hines had previously indicated doubts about the stability of her marriage if Kennedy Jr. endorsed Trump. Despite this, after RFK Jr.’s endorsement, Hines posted a note on her X account expressing gratitude to those who supported her husband’s campaign.

“The decision has been made to suspend my husband’s, Robert Kennedy Jr.’s, presidency and I’d like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign,” Hines wrote.

Hines has often tried to present herself as a moderating influence amid RFK Jr.’s controversial statements. In 2022, she publicly condemned her husband after he invoked Anne Frank’s name at a mandate rally, remarking, “My husband’s reference to Anne Frank at a mandate rally in D.C. was reprehensible and insensitive. His opinions are not a reflection of my own.” She subsequently deleted the tweet.
