Westmoreland tornado in Kansas leaves 1 dead and 3 injured

One person was killed and three others were injured in a tornado that hit Westmoreland, Kansas, with 22 houses destroyed and 13 other homes damaged. The tornado struck around 4:50 p.m. with no need for hospitalization for the injured. Pottawatomie County administration buildings were also damaged. A curfew was put in place at 9:30 p.m., while the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in search and rescue efforts. Power was out in the city as crews worked to restore it. Westmoreland is located about 60 miles northwest of Topeka.
