What Happened to Aespa’s Karina? Will She Perform at the Japan Concert?

SM Entertainment recently provided an update on Aespa’s Karina’s health prior to their concert in Fukuoka, Japan. As of July 28, 2024, the agency announced that Karina would not be participating in the Osaka concert. This decision came following a doctor’s advice given after the group had completed rehearsals.

Aespa is scheduled to perform at Japan’s Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall B on July 30. Despite the health concerns surrounding Karina, SM Entertainment confirmed whether she would join the group. Meanwhile, Aespa will continue their SYNK PARALLEL LINE tour through August, performing in several locations including Taiwan, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Australia.

Fans are understandably concerned about Karina’s well-being. According to SM Entertainment, the 24-year-old singer must rest to recover fully. The official statement on their X account (originally tweeted in Korean) read, “After a long discussion, Karina will inevitably not participate in the Fukuoka performance. We have made this decision, so we ask for your understanding.”

Consequently, the concerts slated for July 30 and 31 at Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall B will only feature three Aespa members: Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. Karina will also miss the CD sales Meet & Greet event.

Aespa’s packed August schedule is set to captivate K-pop enthusiasts across various cities. The group has shared an extensive list of cities they will visit during the 2024 SYNK PARALLEL LINE world tour. Here are the August concert dates:

  • August 3, 2024: AsiaWorld-Expo Hall 10, Hong Kong, China
  • August 10, 2024: NTSU Arena, Taipei, Taiwan
  • August 17, 2024: Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan
  • August 18, 2024: Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan
  • August 24, 2024: Beach City International Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia

SM Entertainment is renowned for producing groups with exceptional vocal talents, and Aespa’s ongoing world tour is a testament to this reputation. During their performances, Aespa has not only showcased several EDM-based experimental tracks but also emphasized their vocal prowess.

Aespa’s current SYNK PARALLEL LINE setlist includes tracks like “Drama,” “Black Mamba,” “Salty & Sweet,” “Supernova,” “Illusion,” “Thirsty,” and more.
