James Gunn announced a Booster Gold Series in January 2023, unveiling plans for upcoming DC films under his and Peter Safran’s supervision. Since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating more news about the Booster Gold Series and its release date.

Here’s what is known about the Booster Gold Series release date and other pertinent details.

The Booster Gold Series does not have an official release date yet, but it will likely be announced in the future.

In May 2024, Gunn confirmed via Instagram that the series is currently under development. However, he debunked a rumor via Screen Rant that suggested production would begin on July 8, 2024. This rumor originated from a production listing by FTIA (Film and Television Industry Alliance) claiming that Booster Gold’s production would start on the mentioned date.

As of now, no official casting details have been released. However, an online rumor suggests that Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani might have been cast in the titular role. Fans have also speculated about other potential actors, including Chris Pratt and Antony Starr, for the character.

James Gunn described the series in his January 2023 DC slate announcement as a story about a “superhero’s imposter syndrome.” The narrative will focus on Michael Jon Carter, a “loser” from the future who travels to the present day to become a superhero in hopes of gaining people’s admiration.

The Booster Gold Series is expected to premiere on HBO Max. Gunn confirmed this during the unveiling of DC Universe’s Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters back in January 2023.
