Why Kevin Costner Turned Down Chris Hemsworth for His Next Movie

The actor Chris Hemsworth shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight his interest in participating in a specific film project directed by Kevin Costner and how it was rejected by the latter. Despite his enthusiasm and efforts to convince Costner to get the role, Hemsworth discovered that the director himself had already booked the lead character for a specific reason.

There was a movie, a script that I had read and loved and it was like, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that,'” Hemsworth said of his experience. “I would love to have him as a director. I was like, ‘Damn!’” he recalled.

Hemsworth said he spent about an hour trying to convince Costner to give him the character. However, after much insistence, the answer became quite clear. “And he said to me: ‘I’m going to do it, boy’. It didn’t work. I didn’t get the role“said the actor who plays Thor in the Marvel Studios films.

Kevin Costner, on the other hand, confirmed his decision to take on the lead role during the same interview with Entertainment Tonightstating that as long as he feels physically capable of playing the character, he would prefer to do it himself.

“It’s a love story, but As long as I’m still young enough to play it, I’ll play it. “Chris will have to wait his turn”, he sentenced.
