Zara Tindall Shares a Close Bond with Cousins Beatrice and Eugenie

Zara Tindall experienced a gap between having her own children and her female cousins starting their families. She and her husband, rugby player Mike Tindall, welcomed their first child in 2014. It wasn’t until 2021 that her cousins, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, had their first children. Princess Eugenie gave birth to a son named August, and Princess Beatrice welcomed a daughter named Sienna. In the same year, Zara had her third child, a son named Lucas.

To celebrate the births of their sons, Zara and Eugenie decided to hold a joint christening ceremony. Joint baptisms are usually uncommon in royal circles, but this did not deter them from organizing a shared event. The christening took place at All Saints Chapel in Windsor in November 2021. Rather than making it a public spectacle, the cousins chose to keep the event private.

Details about what happened inside the church remain scarce. However, it is known that both boys were given the middle name Philip in honor of their late great-grandfather, Prince Philip. The family also decided not to release official photographs of the christening.

Despite the privacy, Princess Eugenie did share a glimpse of the occasion with royal fans. In an Instagram post summarizing the events of 2021, she included a touching photo of herself holding August in his christening gown.
