Britney Spears Reacts to Blake Lively Wearing Her 2002 Versace Dress

Britney Spears reacted with enthusiasm to Blake Lively wearing her iconic 2002 Versace dress at the premiere of It Ends With Us.

In an Instagram video, the 42-year-old pop star showcased an “updated version” of the well-known dress. Britney expressed her preference for this version, as it’s a mini dress that highlights her legs. Dancing to “Your Love” by the Outfield, Britney donned the glittering mini dress, featuring skinny shoulder straps and side cutouts, evoking her past look.

“I LIKE IT WAY BETTER,” she initially commented in the caption, later editing it to give a shoutout to Lively, saying, “I’m no @blakelively but I like it.”

At the New York City premiere of It Ends With Us, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Blake Lively wore Spears’ Spring/Summer Versace dress. The outfit was a nod to the movie’s flower shop storyline, adorned with floral embroidery that represents the main character Lily Bloom’s love for flowers.

The dress originally appeared on the Versace Spring/Summer 2003 runway and gained fame when Britney wore it back in 2002.

Before walking the red carpet, Lively shared a picture of Britney in the dress on Instagram. She praised Spears, writing, “The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories. Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work.”

Lively continued her admiration, noting, “Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come.”

On the red carpet, Lively elaborated to Extra on what wearing the dress meant to her. “This is Britney’s Versace dress. 2002. The butterfly dress. This dress meant so much to me,” Lively told the outlet. “It meant so much to me because of what she meant to me. She was just somebody who represented love, and beauty, and youth, and hard work, and determination.”

Lively added, “She was in touch with her sexuality and delicacy, and she just sort of represented it all… and I don’t know Britney has just meant so much to me forever. I am forever a Britney stan.”

This event isn’t the first time Blake Lively has collaborated with Versace for standout red carpet looks. Over the years, Lively and designer Donatella Versace have teamed up for numerous showstopping appearances at the Met Gala.
